Together we can grow the number of junior cyclists in Northern California and Nevada. That’s the aim of the NCNCA Juniors Series. It’s less about the awards or results and more about each rider’s sense of belonging to the challenging, fun and rewarding sport of cycling. Juniors develop at different rates, so we support them not only in the series races but also through community rides with peers, pros and parents, and we honor those who earn the series leaders’ points.
2027 season
Details in early 2027The series races are announced early in each season and marked Juniors Series on the calendar. Organizers may change the schedule if races are cancelled or postponed; changes are announced first on NCNCA’s social media.
The 2026 series had eight races, from Cat’s Hill in March to the Calaveras Time Trial at the end of August, across road, gravel, track and cross-country mountain bike. It offered up to $2,000 in prize money across four age groups (11–12, 13–14, 15–16 and 17–18), each with separate girls’ and boys’ categories. Thank you to the 2026 series sponsor, Stations: Your Workstation Installation Team.

How the series works
Categories and ages
Riders race in age and gender groups based on their age on 31 December of the race year. You need a one-day or annual USA Cycling license and must live in the NCNCA district. The categories are the same as at USA Cycling national events:
- Junior girls and boys 11–12
- Junior girls and boys 13–14
- Junior girls and boys 15–16
- Junior girls and boys 17–18
How scoring works
Riders earn points at each Juniors Series race. More points are awarded in races with more riders in their age and gender group. If several age or gender groups race together, points are still worked out separately for each group.
Points go to the top 15 places, as in the table below. In a field of fewer than 15 riders, points are scaled to the field size: for example, in a field of 6 riders, 1st place earns 6 points.

- Riders who start six or more series races in the same category earn 10 bonus points.
- Your final series score is the sum of your best six races plus any bonus points.
- You may race in an older age group, but you can win a series prize in one category only. Points don’t transfer between categories: a 14-year-old who scores in 15–16 can’t add those points to their 13–14 total.
- To be eligible for a series prize, you must start at least four series races.
Results and ties
Check the official results at each race; the race’s normal protest rules apply. Points are tracked on OnTheDay.net and, for races that use OnTheDay for results, update live once results are final.
The rider with the most points in each age group and gender wins the series. In a tie, the rider with more first places wins, then more second places, and so on. If still tied, the rider who started more series races wins; after that, the riders stay tied.
